In October 1996, Percy Gray, Jr. organized
the Praise II choir which is a Chicago, Illinois based organization. The goal of the PRAISE II choir is to bring together
various choirs and groups as one united entity, to sing " God's Praises", and to
proclaim the "Goodness
of God" through their ministry of music. With the assistances of both Jeral
V. Gray (New Direction) and Tony Tidwell (Righteous Living) the vision of Percy Gray, Jr. to have a "mass choir"
composed of various choirs and groups, became
a reality. Percy Gray, Jr. believes that regardless to ones religious affiliation,
we can come together as one unified group to give praises to God. The PRAISE II Choir consists of more than 100
members from different choirs
who have joined together as one mass choir PRAISE II. After being organized for one-month,
in November 1996, the PRAISE II choir recorded their first gospel music project, which was produced by the Choir's founder,
Percy Gray, Jr. The unified components of the PRAISE II choir (singers, musicians, administrative staff, etc.) are committed to working together to encourage and uplift people with "good news", through their gospel music ministry.
In the summer of 1997, the PRAISE II choir was blessed to receive a recording contract
with the CGI Records Company for their "first" recorded gospel project. Propelled by the phenomenal success
of its founder Percy Gray, Jr. In 1999 the PRAISE II choir had done it again with its sophomore release with Diversity Records title "Heal the Land". Although ahead of it time, is it any wonder why "Heal the Land" made into the forefront with the
titled song appealing to all mainstream radio and all America as the national awareness song, given the recent tragedy that
we have suffered as a nation. "Heal the Land" could ultimately become the national
anthem of the church and could appeal to the non-secular arenas as well. Percy Gray, Jr. believes that this accomplishment,
in such a short period of time, was the result of the goal of the choir to promote "UNITY" in all facets of the
PRAISE II choir.
